Training of End Users
Autodesk provides many licensing options for organizations that are not Qualified Educational Institutions.
- Training courses to commercial customers
Training organizations can participate in the Authorized Training Center (ATC) program. The ATC program consists of training organizations that provide training related to Autodesk products. Software licensed through the ATC program is available at a discounted rate and can be used for training and development activities.
The ATC program also offers significant value-added support and services such as the right to use official Autodesk branding, training, and development activities for your instructors, participation in marketing campaigns, special offers from Autodesk partners, and a number of other useful resources.
See Locate an Authorized Training Center (ATC)
An alternative is to deliver end user training with software subject to commercial licenses purchased from Autodesk or our resellers.
- Training of students and educators
The Autodesk Authorized Academic Partner Program (AAP) is for organizations that provide training and other services exclusively to the Education market.
If all of your customers are students, educators, or educational institutions, you can join the AAP program and purchase Autodesk licenses that your instructors can use to prepare their training classes.
The AAP program also offers significant value-added support and services such as the right to use official Autodesk branding, training and development activities for your instructors, participation in marketing campaigns, special offers from Autodesk partners and a number of other useful resources.
AAPs may license Autodesk Software Products for Internal Use or for Lab Use. The AAP Internal Use states the Autodesk Software Product may be used by the AAP for internal personal use of the AAP’s employees or contractors as follows:- Training Academic Customers solely for Educational Purposes as detailed in the AAP Program Guide
- Conducting internal research for the AAP
- Providing other Services authorized in the Program Guide to Academic Customers
- Developing training materials for the AAP related to Autodesk Software Products
- If the AAP is authorized by Certiport as a Certiport Authorized
Trainin g Center (CATC) ATC (see Section 5.2), to provide
certification services to Academic Customers.
The AAP Lab Use license option requires the AAP to use the Autodesk Software Products as authorized under the Internal Use option (see above) and to provide the Services permitted under the Program Guide to Academic Customers solely for Educational Purposes on AAP’s computers at an AAP Site.
- Re-training programs
Organizations that are participating in government funded or other re-training programs of displaced workers typically do not meet the definition of a “Qualified Educational Institution.” However, your organization may qualify to join the Authorized Training Center (ATC) program.
An alternative option is to deliver re-training programs with software subject to commercial licenses that you have purchased from Autodesk or its resellers.
Training of Membership Organizations, Trade Skills Unions, or Union-Affiliated Training Organizations
The Autodesk Membership Training Provider (MTP) program was created through successful collaboration between Autodesk and the national leadership of major North American trade unions and personnel who manage their membership training programs. This Program provides membership organizations such as a Union, a Union-affiliated training organization, a trade association, or similar organization, approved by Autodesk, a compliant subscription license model for the use Autodesk software products at their training site. The program offers a comprehensive range of benefits to support and develop in-house training programs including:
- Program administration, services, training, and support from regional distributors.
- Ability to license annual subscriptions for Autodesk software products.
- Online access to the latest Autodesk news, product, and program information.
- Autodesk authorized publisher discounts for select training courseware or certification prep books.
- Use of Autodesk Instructor Development Portal to ensure organization’s instructors maintain instructional pedagogy and Autodesk software product expertise.

Training of Apprentices (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and UK)
Autodesk offers students free* access to professional design
software for use on their personal computers, through the Autodesk
Education Community.
Students that participate in a company apprenticeship in Austria,
Germany, Switzerland, or the UK have the right to install the
Autodesk software subject to an Educational license on a
company machine solely for the student’s educational use, provided
that certain conditions are met.
This initiative is currently available in the DACH region (Austria,
Germany and Switzerland) and the UK. Learn more by
emailing azubi@autodesk.com.
If your use of Autodesk software subject to an Educational license
as part of the apprentice program will be part of commercial
projects: The terms and conditions for Autodesk Educational
licenses restrict the use exclusively to teaching and exercising
activities. Commercial Autodesk software licenses need to be
purchased for all other purposes.
Research
Research can be conducted with Autodesk Educational licenses
provided your organization meets the definition of “Qualified
Educational Institution,” the research is conducted for
non-profit, and forms part of the instructional functions of your
educational institution.
Research institutes/laboratories that are not run by an academic
institution do not typically meet the criteria of a “Qualified
Educational Institution” and do not qualify for free access to
Autodesk software. These organizations need to purchase Autodesk
commercial licenses.
Nonprofit Organizations
Nonprofit organizations do not typically meet the definition of a “Qualified Educational Institution,” and therefore do not qualify for the free* Educational licenses. Autodesk runs an initiative called the Technology Impact Program that donates software licenses to nonprofits that use design to address epic challenges.

* Free Autodesk software and/or cloud-based services are subject to acceptance of and compliance with the terms and conditions of the software license agreement or terms of service that accompany such software or cloud-based services. Software and cloud-based services subject to an Educational license may be used solely for Educational Purposes and shall not be used for commercial, professional or any other for-profit purposes.
