Autodesk Fusion Industry Cloud for Manufacturing FAQ

At AU 2023, we made some exciting announcements around the Fusion industry cloud, where we’re at, where we’re headed, and some changes that are occurring. Read on to learn more.

Q: What is the Autodesk Fusion industry cloud?

The Fusion industry cloud for manufacturing will connect capabilities, data, people, and processes across the entire product development lifecycle. CAD, CAM, CAE, PCB, data management (PLM, PDM), MES, and more will be integrated into one unified experience, enabling advanced automation, AI capabilities, and streamlining of workflows.

The Fusion industry cloud will provide a single source of project data across your organization and supply chain through the Autodesk data model. By ensuring everyone has access to the same data, you can eliminate repetitive tasks and processes, accelerate productivity, and supply critical real-time insights about product development and business operations.

Q: What’s happening next?

A: As we continue to add value to Autodesk Fusion, we’re rebalancing the price of Autodesk Fusion and Fusion extensions. As a result, the price of Fusion is going up, we are consolidating the number of extensions down from 8 to 5, and the price of some extensions is going down.

To help with this transition, all existing active subscribers will receive a renewal price lock of $490 USD SRP until 2027.

To learn more about the why behind what’s changing, and a timeline of when the changes are occurring, we encourage you to read this blog post.

Q: What's happening with core products like Inventor and Vault? How would Fusion industry cloud help me?

A: We will continue to develop and improve existing desktop products as we build the Fusion industry cloud. Existing connections and interoperability will be strengthened between our core products and the Fusion industry cloud to support a seamless data exchange. If you’re an existing PDMC subscriber, you already have access to Fusion industry cloud through Fusion within the collection. Fusion extends PDMC workflows by providing access to advanced design and make capabilities. These current and future connections will allow Fusion industry cloud to augment other Autodesk product capabilities and provide new value through cloud-enabled automation workflows and data insights.

If you have PDMC already, you have access to Autodesk Fusion as an entitlement. Today there are workflows to take your data from Inventor to Fusion and from Vault to Fusion as well. These connections and workflows will be strengthened with our core products as we continue to develop the Fusion industry cloud.
