Using Data Standard

Data Standard is a data control feature for the Vault Client, Inventor, and AutoCAD that helps you enter data for new or existing files in a standardized format.

Vault has many ways in which you can enter or modify data surrounding a file, but some companies require a standardized format for their files. With Data Standard, administrators can design a save dialog that addresses the company's requirements for file data.
Note: See Data Standard Administration for more information on customizing the Data Standard dialog.

How It Works

The basic features of Data Standard are the same across all supported applications. Start your application, create a new document and start writing/designing your content. After you first save a file, the Data Standard dialog appears requesting certain data. Once you complete all of the fields, Data Standard generates the file name and location based on the data. The Save button becomes active only when all required fields are complete.

Once the document has been saved, the entered data is mapped to the file's properties. You do not have to worry about project folders, revising the file, or generating a file name. Data Standard does everything.
