What:
Easily export all necessary BIM data to Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) using the Revit open-source IFC exporter.
Note: The Revit IFC exporter automatically exports the IFC properties that the buildingSMART association defines as “common property sets.” However, almost every company has its own standards and properties, which are not included with the standard settings exported to IFC. Also, export options that include custom properties with Revit property sets lead to very large file sizes and expand your IFC file with unnecessary information.
Who:
Architects, engineers, designers, project managers, and BIM managers.
How:
You use the Export Schedules As Property Sets option to export custom properties in a schedule.
Workflow steps:
In Revit, choose File > Export > IFC > Modify Setup > Property Sets Tab > Select Export Schedules As Property Sets.
This option lets you easily define your custom parameters in a schedule. A Revit project usually has several schedules. The best practice is to select Export Only Schedules Containing IFC, Pset, Or Common In The Title so that you export only those schedules. As a result, the definition of the property sets uses those schedules only.
In this example, the left side shows the result of using a custom schedule for the property set definition. The right side shows the final result after the IFC export as it appears in Navisworks:

Why:
Export your BIM information to IFC.
