Review this high-level workflow to understand the major steps involved in performing an energy analysis using a Revit model.
For more detailed steps, see the topics listed below.
The model can consist of conceptual masses, building elements, or both.
If you want the energy analysis to include the conceptual masses, create mass floors for them.
If the model includes a conceptual mass that does not have mass floors, the mass is treated as a shading element for the purposes of the analysis.
At a minimum, specify the building type, location, and analysis mode. Define other settings if desired, or use the default values.
Review the energy model to make sure it reflects your design intent and does not contain leaks that will prevent proper analysis.
This step packages the Revit model in a gbXML file and sends it to Green Building Studio for analysis. When the analysis is complete, you receive an alert.
After performing the initial analysis, adjust the design, energy settings, and other variables to see if you can improve the model's sustainability rating. You can also use Green Building Studio to define custom settings for the analysis, such as currency, unit costs for electricity and natural gas, and the utility bill history with historical weather data.
