What:

Simulate a flood in an infrastructure model, at any stage, easily and quickly.

Who:

Infrastructure and land development engineers and designers, surveyors.

How:

Use InfraWorks to design or import the project and use RiverFlow2D to simulate the flood. RiverFlow2D for InfraWorks can simulate floods on a very large scale, for rivers with several inflows and also for a combination of river and sea elevation.

  1. In InfraWorks, create or import the project model.

  1. Install the RiverFlow2D InfraWorks plug-in.

  1. Select the area for the simulation.

  1. Set inflows, outflow and hydraulic parameters.

  1. Run the simulation.

  1. Change anything in the model and run the flood simulation to check the difference.

Why:

It's very important to think about floods from the beginning of a project. If there is any suspicion about a flood risk in the area of a project, it's important to analyze the situation for the existing conditions and test the impact of the project. With RiverFlow2D this analyze is fast and easy.

What next:

To go deeper in the flood analysis you can use the River and Flow Analysis module in Autodesk Civil 3D.
