Flame InfoBytes: Stone+Wire - Adding high-speed interface for S+W

Autodesk Support

May 4, 2017

This video link below covers the steps with the following workstation info:

  • Hostname - "bmw"
  • 1Gig - "10.1.1.1"
  • 10Gig - "172.16.1.1"

For best practice it's not needed to add all remote workstations to all the sw_framestore_map files at your facility, only the local workstation need to be filled in.

Script version is also available with instructions at: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/article/94051

Advanced info - The auto-discovery mechanism for stone and wire services communicates over multicast address 224.0.0.1/4, so all workstations will share the information in their own sw_framestore_map file with other remote systems.  If you're experiencing issues where auto-discovery is not working, please check if you have a gateway defined interface, if not (security reasons) it's possible to statically define a routing table entry.

 Example:

    # ip route add 224.0.0.1 via <house_network> [dev ifname]
