Location of the log files generated by the installation of an Autodesk product

Apr 7, 2010

After installation of an Autodesk product, you want to know where you can find the log files of the installation

Start Windows Explorer and type the string %TEMP% into the address field as shown in the picture.
This is a symbolic notation valid for all Windows operating systems and Windows will replace it with the actual folder name after you type <Enter>.

If you want to find the most recent log files after the installation finishes, sort on creation date and look for files with extension *.log.

Most of the installation related log files will have either the string "install" or "setup" in the filename. These strings can be used for wildcard searches to locate the log files as well.
