Double-byte characters are not recognized in license option file - adskflex.opt

Jul 31, 2013

Issue:

You've created a network license option file - adskflex.opt. In the option file, you use double-byte characters such as Korean, Japanese, Chinese and etc. defined in various syntax. However, you notice that they're not applied.

Below is an example:

GROUP TeamA ???1 ????2 ??3
INCLUDE 71200ACD_2010_0F GROUP TeamA

This is to allow only TeamA to use AutoCAD 2010, but the actual result is that ???1, ????2, and ??3 cannot access the license.

Solution

This is because double-byte characters are not recognized in the license option file if its encoding is ANSI.

To resolve this problem, save adskflex.opt using UTF-8 encoding.

In Windows Notepad, go to File > Save As and set Encoding to UTF-8. Then ReRead the license file or Restart the server to apply the updated settings.
