Autodesk Inventor Professional 2008 SP1 (build #284) July 10, 2007 ====================================== Notice to Autodesk Inventor Customers ====================================== In a continuing effort to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released Autodesk Inventor 2008 Service Pack 1, which fixes or addresses a variety of issues pertaining to Autodesk Inventor 2008. This patch update applies to all flavors of Autodesk Inventor 2008. 2. This patch cannot be un-installed by itself. You need to un-install Autodesk Inventor 2008 completely. 3. This patch does not address the “End of Evaluation Period” error with the AOEMView 2008. You will also have a progress meter on your screen while the setup program is updating the files on your system. Click Finish when done. (3) If requested, please reboot your system after the service pack is installed. *For final verification, from within Autodesk Inventor, select "About Autodesk Inventor" from the Help menu. If Autodesk Inventor 2008 Service Pack 1 has been successfully installed, the About box displays: "Build: 284, Release: 2008 SP1 - Date: Fri 07/06/2007." =================================================================== Summary of issues addressed in Autodesk Inventor 2008 Service Pack 1 include: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: CER stands for Crash Error Report and NG stands for News Group AUTODESK INVENTOR PROFESSIONAL 2008 – MODULES ============================================= CABLE & HARNESS =============== Fixed the following issue: - On Windows Vista, with “User Account Control (UAC)” on, if Nailboard is created once from Cable and Harness panel bar, corresponding template tab will be missing on creating Nailboard in the future. TUBE & PIPE =========== Fixed the following issues: - Close assembly after populating hose or tube and pipe segment with bends does not remove all documents from memory. - Not all the documents are removed from memory upon closing some legacy Tube & Pipe files. - Route not marked as comatose although show violation can list the violations as Gender or end condition errors. STRESS ANALYSIS =============== Fixed the following issue: - Cannot edit loads or boundary conditions defined in Inventor 11 in some cases. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AUTODESK INVENTOR 2008 ====================== API === Fixed the following issues: - CER: Crash on close after using FileManager.GetDWGDocumentReferences. - Sketch.Dependents property returns an error. - On Windows Vista, iPartMember.Name doesn't contain file extension. - Centermark.ModelWorkFeature and Centerline.ModelWorkFeature should return proxies where applicable. - PartsListColumn.CustomPropertyName returns the Title string instead of property name. ASSEMBLY MODELING ================= Fixed the following issues: - Poor performance with Zoom all when a LOD is active on certain assemblies. - NG: Crash on applying an assembly constraint to Z-axis in certain files. - NG: Cannot calculate mass props on an assembly that contains assembly feature or on a weldment assembly that contains machining or preparation operations. - In some cases the hospital behavior is incorrect. It shows a redundant Red Cross and redundant "Missing edge" error message. CONTENT CENTER ============== Fixed the following issues: - All Lock Washer Dimensions Series come in as the same size. - Library migration failure in some custom Autodesk Inventor 10 libraries. - CER: Crash when publishing an iPart with no Member and Part Number parameters. - CER: Crash in Content Center Favorites. DESIGN ACCELERATOR, FRAME GENERATOR, INVENTOR STUDIO ==================================================== Fixed the following issues: - Bolted Connection does not update to the new position after a part is edited. - Grip for Keyway length for a shaft is missing. - IS Standards are missing in Frame Generator of AIP 2008. - B_L value of a frame member does not get updated while change its size or offset. - On Windows Vista, the tooltip of type in Insert and Change dialog flickers which makes the preview of profile disappear. - Truncation numbers in Animation Timeline dialog box on Windows Vista. - Error for rename in Studio Browser on 64 bit Windows Vista. - Double-click doesn't work on studio browser on 64 bit Windows Vista. - On Windows Vista, numbers are partially cut-off in Animation Timeline dialog. - On Windows Vista, double-clicking doesn't take effect on the Studio browser nodes. DRAWING MANAGER =============== Fixed the following issues: - The balloon text justification is not always correct when exporting to DWG. - When views created from two different exploded presentation views based on LOD are ballooned, the second exploded view launches the BOM properties dialog. - Defer updates doesn't prevent Parts List from being updated. - CER: Crash when adding text. - Crash when migrating certain drawing files. - Missing warning prompts in the drawing when assembly needs update. - The language switch does not apply when pressing "ALT+SHIFT" if Regional Settings are changed to Hebrew. - Annotations are lost when an Inventor DWG is opened in AutoCAD. - CER: Crash in some cases when migrating a drawing that contains a BOM. - CER: Crash in some cases when recovering model sketches. - CER: Crash in some cases when creating a section view - CER: Crash in some cases when printing drawing files. - CER: Crash in some cases when creating dimensions. - CER: Crash in some cases when adding dimensions to centerlines. - CER: Crash in some cases when modifying dimension styles. - CER: Crash in some cases when retrieving dimensions in a drawing. - CER: Crash in some cases when migrating drawings that contain a table. - CER: Crash in some cases when saving drawing files. - CER: Crash in some cases when opening Inventor drawing files. - NG: Cannot delete sheet if it was not activated in a current Inventor release - NG: ISO View dimension help does not work - NG: Incorrect symbol attachment to half diameter dimension - NG: View block name is wrong when the view contains a space at the starting of the view name - NG: Default Gap for breakout is wrong for inches or mm - NG: Cannot open certain drawing files after migration to Inventor 2008. - NG: Crash updating views in certain drawing files. - NG: Opening the dwg file in AutoCAD via the "Open in AutoCAD" command causes a read-only attribute to be set on the dwg file projects in Inventor - NG: random error opening drawing files from prior release(s). - NG: Incorrect visibility of new components in a view when view has component hidden line visibility turned on for specific components. - NG: Line weight not maintained while printing. - On Windows Vista, it is not able to create projected view. - On Windows Vista, Open in AutoCAD cannot find an installed AutoCAD version. - On Windows Vista, bold text is illegible. - Rebuild of thread in iFeatures, iPart, derived part or derived assembly caused hole note in drawing to disappear. - Defer update shifts rendered drawing views. DWG/DWF/AEC Exchange ==================== Fixed the following issues: - On Windows Vista, MSP can only use default printer to plot. - Crash when exporting certain drawings to DWG. - On Windows Vista, closing Inventor after DWF publish does not terminate the process. - On Windows Vista, Model/Layout1 tab is missing when an AutoCAD dwg file is imported. - On Windows Vista, cannot save copy as AutoCAD Mechanical file. - On Windows Vista, cannot translate MDT files. GENERAL ======= Fixed the following issues: - NG: Importing XML from Inventor 11 to Inventor 2008 generates invalid Command Aliases/Shortcuts. - Crash on placing a component created on student version in commercial version. - NG: certain command aliases do not persist between Inventor sessions. - On Windows Vista, browser shading can barely be seen using LCD screen. - Crash when multi-selecting part features in the browser followed by a double click. - CER: Crash while closing documents. - CER: Crash moving between windows with faces selected. - OLE attachments in part and drawing files do not update. - Some controls on a dialog may disappear when Alt key is pressed on Windows Vista. - Some customized Command Aliases will be reset after closing Inventor session. IGS/STEP/SAT ============ Fixed the following issues: - CER: Crash on Boundary Trim command in Construction Edit environment with certain files. - On Windows Vista, can't open translation report in Inventor browser. PART MODELING ============= Fixed the following issues: - CER: Crash on extending extrusion surface to work plane in a customer file. - Pipe threads Class B crashes for certain values. - Wrong mass properties in sheet metal part after changing material in the flat. PRESENTATIONS ============= Fixed the following issue: - CER: Crash when closing the Animation dialog. TASK SCHEDULER ============== Fixed the following issues: - Cannot Publish DWF from Task Scheduler for files that have components suppressed. - On Windows Vista, task will not run after you re-schedule it. KNOWN ISSUES ON WINDOWS VISTA ============================= - Shell Extensions (e.g. Design Assistance, iProperties, Pack & Go, …) may not be shown in the Inventor file context menu after Service Pack 1 is applied. You may need to run Inventor using Admin account to correct it (Select Inventor application icon using Windows Explorer, then Right Mouse Button click, select “Run as…”). - Style Library Manager may generate an error during initialization. You may need to reboot your system then launch stand-alone Project Editor (from Windows Start menu) and close it to correct this. - On Windows Vista, Import image into a sketch will fail when MS Paint is not the default editor. You may have to disable “User Account Control (UAC)” to register MS Paint as your default editor. - On Windows Vista, the layer list may not populate correctly on DWGIN Wizard DWG Preview Page. Please turn off Vista “User Account Control (UAC)” and register the file DxOemViewer.Arx in AOEMVIEW 2008 installation folder to proceed. =================================================================== Notes: ====== Autodesk Inventor 2008 and Autodesk Inventor 2008 Service Pack 1 use the same file formats (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .ipn, .idv, .ide). All file types can be interchanged between these versions. The size of Autodesk Inventor 2008 Service Pack 1 is approximately 30 MB.
