In our continuing efforts to provide high quality products, Autodesk has released hotfix DL22541232 which addresses issues where Inventor unexpectedly exits after updating to Windows 8.1.
This document contains the latest information regarding the installation and use of this update. It is strongly recommended that you read this entire document before you apply the update to your product. For reference, you should save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

Inventor unexpectedly exits after updating to Windows 8.1
This hotfix should only be applied to systems directly affected by the issue described above, as this was the only issue this hotfix was created to address.
Note: Windows 8.1 is not supported for this Inventor release.
For application of this hotfix, your system must have one of the following products installed:
This hotfix is available in 32bit and 64bit versions (downloaded together as one bundle) and is only applicable to Autodesk Inventor 2011 Service Pack 2 with Vault 2011 Update 2. If you do not have Service Pack 2 for Inventor 2011 and Update 2 for Vault 2011 please download them and install prior to installing this Hotfix. For installation on Windows 8.1 OS please read Technical Solution TS22446139. Once installed, it will appear as an update under Add/Remove Programs and can be uninstalled from there.
