How to download software from Autodesk Account using the Install Now method

Issue:

Desktop Subscription customers can use the automated Install Now method in Autodesk Account to download and install software in one streamlined process.

Solution:

The Install Now method is the best way to get products up and running on your computer as it automates the process of downloading and installing software on a single computer. Follow the steps below.

Important Download and Install Information

  • Install Now Availability: If you don't see an option for "Install Now" in Autodesk Account for your software, the download method is not available for that particular product or version.
     
  • Component Installation Failure: If you complete the Install Now process and receive a message that some software components didn't install, this is most likely due to software conflicts on your computer and not because the components didn't download. If this happens, try to uninstall previous versions that may be causing a conflict. See these articles for tips:

To Download and Install Software Using Install Now:

  1. Log into Autodesk Account at accounts.autodesk.com and click the Account tab at the top.
  2. Click the Download Products button on the Account screen.

  3. Select your desired Language and Operating System platform from the pull-down menus at the top of the page.
     
  4. Enter a product name in Product Search or scroll through the product options and click the Year Button for the version you wish to download and install.

    Note: 2014 and newer software version names begin with "Autodesk" (ex. Autodesk AutoCAD). You will find 2013 and older versions listed seperately by software name (ex. AutoCAD).
     
  5. Click the Install Now button for the desired software version.

    Note: For Windows systems, 32-bit or 64-bit refers to the version of your operating system, which you can check by going to Control Panel > System . You must choose the correct version in order to use the software.

  6. Select "I Accept" on the License Agreement screen and click Install. If your browser asks what to do with the install file, select Run.

    Note about "Communication Error" message: A "Communication Error" message may indicate a problem with your internet security settings. Try installing and accepting any security certificates, adding autodesk.secure.force.com to your trusted sites, and/or temporarily disabling firewall settings. If these actions don't solve the problem, you may need to try a different download method. See Which software download method should I use in my Autodesk Account.

  7. Select your language and click Install on the installation screen.

  8. Select Country or Region, review and Accept the Autodesk License and Services Agreement then click Next.

  9. Select the Product Language from the drop down menu (if installing a multi-language product) and then select the License Type of your product (either Stand Alone or Network).

  10. Enter your Serial Number and Product Key and then click Next.

    Selecting I want to try the product for 30 days will install the product in Trial Mode. After 30 days, you won't be able to use product without a valid Serial Number and Product Key.

  11. Select the components you wish to install and the installation path and click Install to initiate installation.

    The default configuration pre-selects the components to be installed with your product. The Installation path indicates the location where your Autodesk product will be installed. It is recommended that you proceed with the default configuration and location.

    Note: If you customize the Installation path, make sure it does not exceed 260 characters or you will receive an error during installation.

  12. Review the list of installed components and click Finish to close the installer.

    Note about Failed Installation: If the final installation screen indicates that some of the components failed to install, this does not indicate that they failed to download. This typically occurs when there was an installation conflict with software already on your computer.
