Error 1606 when installing 2014 product

Issue:

You want to install a 2014 version of an Autodesk product, but get a 1606 error.

Solution:

Option 1:
  1. Run regedit.exe.
  2. Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

  1. Check for “Name” =  Common Documents defined as C:\Users\Public\Documents.
  2. If you cannot find Registry key name and data, add the following Registry information under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Key name:  Common Documents
Type:            REG_SZ
Data:            C:\Users\Public\Documents

Option 2:
 

  1. Run regedit.exe.
  2. Browse to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

  1. Verify the various path referenced that point to \Users\ folders, navigate to those folders in windows explorer end ensur ethy folders exist. If they do not , create them.
