Nastran Editor does not open when classic theme or appearance for best performance is used in Windows

Issue:

When launching the Autodesk Nastran Editor the process hangs and the application never opens. The Nastran Editor appear in the Windows task manager but the editor does not appear.

This can also occur with Simulation Mechanical when the model is pushed to the Nastran Editor via "Export>Nastran Editor".

Causes:

Windows visual appearance settings (as shown in this image), or any Windows personalize Themes that use similar settings (such as the "Windows Classic" theme).

Solution:

It is recommend to use the "Adjust for best appearance" setting found in the Window's System Properties > Performance > Visual Effects (Figure 1), or switch to a different theme (Figure 2).

Nastran editor hangs invisible

Figure 2. Windows Server and other versions of Windows may require a different "Theme" in order to work properly. The Basic and High Contrast themes may not be compatible with the Nastran Editor. It is better to use one of the default themes.
