Issue:

Autodesk network license service doesn't start automatically after rebooting the workstation that's running the Autodesk Network License Manager (LMTOOLS).

Causes:

Use Services and Start server at Power Up is not selected in the configuration settings.

Solution:

To workaround this issue try the following steps:

  1. Open LMTOOLS and go to the "Config Services" tab and verify "Use Services" and "Start Server at Power Up" are both checked as seen in the below screenshot.

  1. Click "Save Service" after checking these boxes.
  2. Go to the Start/Stop/Reread tab and start the license server.
  3. Reboot the license server and test to see if it starts automatically.

If the issue persists, set the service to delayed startup.

  1. Click on Start, select Run. This opens the Run box.
  2. Now type services.msc in the box and hit Enter to open the Services Manager.
  • Note: The correct service name to look for can be found on the Config Services Tab as shown in the screenshot above.
  1. Find the name of the license service you created within Lmtools and highlight it. (In the example below I created a service and named it Autodesk NLM (the default name is Flexlm Service 1).
  2. After highlighting the service, right-click it, and choose Properties.
