Issue:

How to add or remove content libraries once Autodesk Revit is installed?

Note: This article applies to Revit 2020 and earlier versions. For information on accessing content in 2021 and later versions, see the article Templates and family library not installed or missing in Revit or Revit LT

Causes:

This article is written from the perspective that the Revit content library have been successfully installed, and you want to add or remove components (e.g. US Imperial).
 
If the content is not installed, or if there is no content listed at all on step 5 below, then this article would not apply.

Solution:

Overview:

  • Find Autodesk Revit Content Libraries #### in Programs and Features Control Panel
  • Uninstall/Change -> Add/Remove Features
  • Add / Remove the items as desired
  • Click Next until you can Finish the changes.

Here are the full steps to go through:

  1. From the Control Panel, select "Uninstall a program" (if in the Category view) or "Programs and Features" (if in the Icon view)
  2. Select the Autodesk Revit Content Libraries #### for the version you wish to update.
  3. Choose "Uninstall/Change."
  4. Once the install wizard launches, select "Add/Remove Features."Add-Remove Features
  5. In the dialog, select the libraries you wish to install, then click "Next."
