Issue:

You want to know if there is a recommended order when installing multiple Autodesk products on a workstation.

Causes:

During a suite installation, multiple programs would install together in a sequence, but with collections the programs are installed individually.

Solution:

  • Order does not matter if installing Autodesk products from the same release year
  • Multiple versions of Revit should be installed from older to newest
  • Multiple versions of AutoCAD should be installed from oldest to newest.
Note: There are a few special considerations:

1. If you are installing a program that has a plugin into another program, the other program needs to be installed before the plugin.

2. During a Building Design Suite installation the products are installed in the following order: AutoCAD (and any AutoCAD verticals), Vehicle Tracking, Revit, Inventor, Navisworks, 3ds Max, etc.

3. If you have a newer version of a program installed i.e. AutoCAD Electrical 2018, you may be able to install an older version on the same system without removing it (although the correct workflow is to install from oldest to newest.)
