How to exchange data between databases in Autodesk Fabrication

Issue:

It is required to export data from an Autodesk Fabrication database and import the data into a different one.

Solution:

The following commands in CADmep:
  • DBEXPORT
  • DBIMPORT
And the following in CAMduct/ESTmep:
  • File>Export>Database Export
  • File>Export>Database Import
Allow to export and import the following types of data from/to different databases:
  • Airturns
  • Ancillaries
  • Connectors
  • Dampers
  • Fabrication times*
  • Installation times*
  • Insulation specifications
  • Seams
  • Sections
  • Specifications
  • Splitters
  • Stiffeners
  • Supplier costs*
  • Supports
* This data is not available for export in CAMduct

To export the data from CADmep:
  • Type DBEXPORT
  • From the "Database Export" dialog choose the data to export
  • Save the export file (*.iox extension)
To import the data in CADmep:
  • Type DBIMPORT
  • From the "Database Import" dialog choose the data to import
    • NOTE: only exported data will be visible, empty tabs are normal if no data has been exported for that specific type
  • Click OK to merge the data into the database

To export the data from CAMduct or ESTmep:
  • Click File > Export > Database Export
  • From the "Database Export" dialog choose the data to export
  • Save the export file (*.iox extension)
To import the data in CAMduct or ESTmep:
  • Click File > Import > Database Import
  • From the "Database Import" dialog choose the data to import
    • NOTE: Only exported data will be visible, empty tabs are normal if no data has been exported for that specific type
  • Click OK to merge the data into the database
