"FATAL ERROR S1121: INVALID LICENSE FOR ANALYSIS, TRANSLATOR, OR FEATURE TYPE" when attempting to run an analysis in Nastran

Issue:

When attempting to run an analysis in Autodesk Nastran, the following message is generated and the analysis fails:

FATAL ERROR S1121: INVALID LICENSE FOR ANALYSIS, TRANSLATOR, OR FEATURE TYPE

Causes:

Nastran is not able to connect to the license.

Out-of-date version of the license manager.
Using a non-standalone version of Nastran to perform the analysis from a command prompt.
Autodesk licensing service 9.4 updates.
Corrupted installation.

Solution:

To resolve this try one of the following:

Upgrade to the most recent version of the Autodesk License Manager.
It is not possible to run Nastran from the command prompt using the Nastran solver provided as part of Nastran In-CAD (2018 and older) or Simulation Mechanical.
- Run the analysis from the interface.

Note: In-CAD 2019 provided with the Product Design and Manufacturing collection includes the standalone Nastran, so this provides the ability to solve an In-CAD analysis from a command prompt.

Downgrade to Autodesk Desktop Licensing Service to version 9.2.
Perform a Clean Uninstall and re-install Autodesk Inventor/Nastran:
1. Perform a clean uninstall following the steps in the article "How to perform a Clean Uninstall of Autodesk products on Windows".
2. Install Autodesk Inventor.
3. Install Autodesk Nastran.
